We toured the southern part of Dare County yesterday. Pea Island, Rodanthe, Hatteras. Climbed the Hatteras Lighthouse-257 steps up and 257 steps down—easy! Learned about the treacherous seas surrounding this rugged barrier island. Never knew that German U-boats sank over 35 ships in a two month span back in the early months of WWII. Weather here hasn’t been “beach” weather—but we have had a great time! Golf is on the agenda today and it is a bit chilly with a wind off the ocean. Hope the course we are playing is on the Albemarle sound—Joanne’s water (her home is on the sound) is as calm as can be-almost like glass.
